I love working with clay and sharing that joy with others. There is something wonderful about being an object maker. I can't say it better than the way Philip Cornelius does... "Working with clay is like having a conversation with your maker." I value the longevity of clay. I aspire to make objects of interest and utility that could be in this world much longer than I can.
In 1989, I took a ceramics class in Pasadena and I’ve been hooked ever since. After years of practicing as a hobby I’ve been able to make it a career - both as an educator and artist. Since the summer of 2007, I've been teaching Ceramics at Crescenta Valley High School and loving it. I'm lucky to be teaching at an amazing school with many students that are enthusiastic, intelligent, and engaged. Another blessing is my connection to CSU Dominguez Hills. It's where I've learned a lot about studios, making, and where I occasionally teach.
Most of what I make is handmade pottery for everyday use.
